So what exactly is dustless sanding? Simply put, it is the neater version of of more traditional sanding and refinishing of hardwood floors. Is it 100 percent dustless — no, but it is much cleaner. The benefit of dustless sanding is that less dust particles and allergens escape into the air of your home, which could cause you illness. That is something we don’t want to happen. Why do people choose to sand their hardwood floors? Typically after so many years (depending on foot traffic and type of hardwood), the floors start to look aged or worn. We will then take our dustless floor sander and work diagonally across the boards, overlapping each strip of hardwood. This ensures we don’t make ruts on the floor.
Vacuuming the floor after the sanding process is important, because this will pick up any debris and dust that our sander did not.We also wipe the boards with a damp cloth for one final sweep for dust. After the boards are dry we will apply the varnish — always in the direction of the grain of the wood.
